Evanston: ten years on a Moore 24; a video; a bigger planet

A man wrote to the Moore Yahoo Group asking if anyone knows the location of a Moore 24 named FOAMY which has an inboard engine—a bad idea I think on many counts—weight, space, smell, fuel and drag.
A response came from a sailor who had seen the boat in California about ten years ago and was told by the owner that he had been living aboard in Mexico for the preceding ten years and was headed back.
Now that must be a story.

Jay sent me a link to another Off Center Harbor video.  Some of you may recall that I linked to one of their videos a few weeks ago, as well as mentioning why I wasn’t watching more.  But I like this one, though I think the boat would be prettier without the boom crutch.  At least it should be lowered when underway.

The photo above dates from 2011.  It is a highly processed HDR image taken in Whangaroa Harbor about forty miles northwest of Opua.

And here is a photo of the snow of yesterday, which like those of yesteryear, which the poet Villon wondered about, has melted.
While today is still raw and overcast, we are due to have sunny and unseasonably warm weather with temperature in the 50sF/10+C.  Were Chicago boat owners permitted to keep their boats in the water year round, which they are not, I’m sure some would be sailing this weekend.

I haven’t yet added GANNET’s track across the Pacific to the chart of my voyages.  I’m not sure there is room.  I need a bigger planet.
